Educational and Economic Empowerment
In prevention of teenage pregnancy, YSMF has also manage to carry out educational and economic empowerment program to support girls at risk due to financial issues by improving educational and economic opportunities. We have been carrying seminars and training on the following topics which have managed to train girls and family level at Kilakala, Kichangani, Bigwa, Mbuyuni and Sultan Area Ward. In each ward we managed to train and support 50 families heads
- Psychosocial counseling
- Mentoring programs for youth to develop a close relationship with parents and care givers
- Educational opportunities, including vocational training courses, skills building training, supporting with education materials and educational motivation seminars
- Recreational activities such as sports, drama, and we aim to start clubs in each ward
- Job opportunities
- Community service opportunities.
Up to date, YSMF has managed to reach 250 adolescent girls who are undergoing sexual and reproductive health program. This program has much impact to them, families and communities at large. We have supported some of them with Educational Materials, encourage them stay in school, economically supporting their parents or care givers and also be close to them as friends who have the rights to talk and ask more about sex and relationships and who need right information and answers.
